England’s most sought-after countryside hotel, The Newt In Somerset is launching a series of events and seasonal activities for 2023– allowing guests to immerse themselves into the beautiful, quintessential county of Somerset and understand what sets it apart from other parts of the beautiful English countryside.
Set in the quintessential countryside of southwest England, The Newt in Somerset is an evolution of the traditional country house hotel that allows guests to escape city life and immerse themselves in life on the working estate through a host of experiences designed to entertain, educate, and stimulate. Offering more than just a hotel, guests at The Newt can enjoy access to 1,000-acres complete with elegant gardens, wild woodland, rolling valleys and picturesque apple orchards. The Newt offers a wealth of activities to enjoy year-round, with a seasonal program of workshops and events curated by the expert team. The rural setting has also inspired a garden-to-table menu in The Newt’s trio of restaurants, as well as botanical based treatments in the spa. Meanwhile, a line-up of contemporary permanent exhibits use state-of-the-art technology to transport guests back in time across 16 centuries; from The Story of Gardening – a journey through the history of horticulture – to a full-sized re-imagining of a 4th century Roman Villa, the inhabitants of which once called this idyllic setting home.
SPRING AWAKENING
After March’s sowing efforts and Wassail celebration to issue a good harvest for the season ahead, the flowers begin to bloom and wildlife in The Newt in Somerset’s gardens shows new signs of life; with birds nesting, bees pollinating and garden inhabitants waking from winter hibernation. Snowdrops appear, marking the end of winter and arrival of spring, offering a sign of hope for brighter days ahead.
Seasonal highlights include:
New for Spring: Look out for their new bulb field that has been planted on the way to the Beezantium. Head Gardener, Stephen Herrington, and team have planted 65,000 bulbs which will flower from spring until the autumn!
Dawn Walks – Head of Programs, Arthur Cole, regularly leads guests on a peaceful morning stroll through the grounds before the rest of the estate awakes. This season, he is joined by Head Beekeeper Paula Carnell, following the ‘Song of the Snowdrops’ with guests.
