Up your makeup game when the snow is falling and the lights are twinkling.
RUNWAY
When winter comes around more is more! Bold looks are a sure way to get noticed during celebration season. Play up your eyes with rich pigments, apply a swath of deep red colour to lips, or add sparkly blush to cheeks.
And, this season the catwalks provided tons of inspiration. At Erdem, designer Erdem Moralioglu referenced the past both personal and historical. “[My] inspiration …is the combination of memories I have of my mother wearing a saturated red lip, mixed with the poise of 1930s and 40s aristocracy…The colours [used from the Erdem for NARS Collection] are bold yet demure.”
Naeem Khan played with rich textures and embellishments inspired by Peru for his runway collection. Makeup artist for Maybelline New York, Gato, created an ultra-glam emerald lid which acts as the ultimate accessory to Khan’s highly decorative looks.
At Ulla Johnson, lashes lined with gold glitter made models sparkle while at Delpozo Monica Marmo using NARS Cosmetics, “created contrast with the beauty look by giving the models matte skin and eyes painted with a shiny, metallic silver.”
YOUR LOOK
All of these looks begin with a fresh, even skintone layered with a subtle metallic highlighter set with loose powder. Use this base to layer colour whether on the eyes, lips or cheeks.
