The secret to a better night’s sleep may just be found in the scent of lavender.
Aromatherapy, the use of essential oils for well-being is centuries old. Clinical studies at the University of Leicester in the UK found that lavender put elderly patients to sleep as effectively as sleeping aids. In a 2005 study at Wesleyan University in Connecticut, participants who smelled lavender before bedtime had increased deep sleep and felt more vigorous in the morning. To get these benefits at home, add a few drops of lavender oil to a diffuser or pillow, add a few drops to a bath or spray lavender eau de parfum (like Eco Bella Lavender Eau De Parfum) on pulse points before bedtime.
