1/ Cornwall, UK
The quality of light at St. Ives has inspired artists and beachgoers alike with a rich maritime history.

2/ Rarotonga, COOK ISLANDS
Take a kayak to explore the crystal waters of Muri Lagoon where blue starfish abound and atolls dot the horizon.

3/ Florida, USA
Art Deco buildings made Miami Beach the epitome of 80s cool and the uniquely decorated lifeguard stations are no slouch either.

4/ Cascais, PORTUGAL
Perched on a headland on the Atlantic Ocean, the Fort of Sagres is a large protective complex including Fortaleza do Guincho with sweeping views.

5/ St Kitts & Nevis, WEST INDIES
A coastline view of northeastern St Kitts from a helicopter shows black rockface from previous volcanic activity.

6/ St Lucia, WEST INDIES
Instead of the famous Pitons, enjoy sunset views of Pigeon Island National Landmark from Reduit Beach on the northwest coast.

A pod of Bottlenose Dolphins swims alongside a glass bottom boat traversing the waters between Nylon Pool and Buccoo Reef.

The Curonian Spit divides a lagoon from the Baltic Sea, and the Parnidis Dune and is a popular recreational spot overlooking the beach.

10/ Waitākere, NEW ZEALAND
The dramatic coastline of New Zealand’s Hawkes Bay region is also home to the Muriwai gannet colony, a surreal site.

11/ Puerto Vallarta, MEXICO
Toasting with cocktails to memories made under palapas by the infinity pool beside the ocean, as baby turtles return to the sea.

12/ Grenada, WEST INDIES
On the island known as the Spice Isle, a fisherman cleans his catch of the day at Grand Anse beach.

13/ Tamarindo, COSTA RICA
As the sun sets, a silhouette of two local cowboys at the beach that shares its name with the city in Guanacaste Province.

14/ Crete, GREECE
Malia beach in the capital Heraklion provides a break from ancient sites like the overwrought Knossos and Athena’s bathing spot of Voulismeni.

15/ Victoria, CANADA
Though not strictly a beach like Oak Bay and Willows, the juxtaposition of Government street buildings and water is special.

16/ Bahamas, WEST INDIES
Love Beach on Nassau is a wonderful snorkeling spot. Though secluded, catch it in the morning when  the sand sparkles.

17/ Hammamet, TUNISIA
Not the place you’d think of for beaches, this North African country has been an ancient bathing favourite since Roman times and before.

18/ Cayman Islands, WEST INDIES
When seen from above the beaches of Grand Cayman look likes specs of tan amongst shades of blue and green.
