VILLA Separated into heaven, an adult guest only area, and the rest of Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya, the resort excels at Rockstar chic. My Sky terrace room features a second-floor open-air terrace with excellent views of the ocean and grounds. Goodies like liquor dispensers in fully stocked free mini bar and roomy soaking tub in the bedroom, not to mention oversize silver headboard are indulgent features that allow me to feel fully immersed in the rock star lifestyle. Siestas (another treat) are a must on the outdoor hammock, just like my own private cabana.
DINING With a plethora of restaurants on site, it is easy to seek out a favourite. Standouts include: Frida, the Mexican restaurant where the queso fundito and tortilla soup are both musts; Zen where an enormous Buddha head contrasts with a striking electric blue floor and lively teppanyaki tables provide for people watching, while nibbling on sushi and spring rolls.
EXTRAS Music runs deep at this hotel. Complimentary streaming music is available in rooms, as are drum sets. Music memorabilia displayed throughout is incredibly inspiring – we loved spotting Jimi Hendrix’s vest, and cool black leather pants worn by legendary rocker Janice Joplin.
