If the Spring and Summer 2020 catwalks featured a theme it would be embracing the season — go on, there’s more time to show off, longer days are here again!
SHOES OF THE SEASON
Decorative Chains: Multiple anklets resembling Indian payal grace mule pumps.
Buckled Flats: Dress them up in neon and muted greys that go with everything.
Strappy Sandals: Give them panache with bold patterned stockings.
Diamante Booties: Plays well with cocktail dresses, mini skirts and jeans.
Uber Flats: Bows add femininity.
Classic Heels: Rope details nod to nautical.
Loafers: Snakeskin gives it edge and modernity.
HATS 2.0
Large brim hats rule the beaches and boardwalks.
Straw boater with a scarf equals fetching ‘50s style.
Swap a fascinator for a tilted cocktail hat.
Channel cool Cali style with a visor.
BLACK AND WHITE
Grounded black, plays off its opposite in a classic combination. In unexpected ladylike florals, simple separates or an off-shoulder cocktail dress – it’s still the way to make a statement.
TULLE SKIRTS
Diaphanous mixed with structure is key here. A snug sweater, a long tuxedo jacket or a crop top give the ballerina inspired skirt a tailored shape. Keep the colours simple!
IN THE TRENCHES
Film noir is full of them. But there’s nothing passé about trench coats. This season they feature bold colours and unexpected materials.
PINSTRIPES
Borrowing from men’s Saville Row tailored suiting and modifying it to fit women’s curves, these shirtdresses look polished yet casual.
BOHEMIAN PATTERN
Peace, love and easy dressing! Take a cue from the swinging ‘60s with flowy, floor-grazing dresses and caftans in psychedelic patterns or groovy rompers that show off legs for days.
SAFFRON
With just a tinge of red, this bright colour spells optimism whether in a curve hugging design, midi dress with pouffy sleeves or a raincoat-like pantsuit.
PINK SHORTS SUIT
Add a chunky necklace, pair with a decorative dresshirt or select it in a sheen fabric with bangles — no matter how you style it says warmer days are here again!
