Budget Beauty

Finding the right skincare products or determining the proper routine when on a budget can be challenging. Skincare products range in prices, and effectiveness. The good news? It’s possible to have a high-quality skincare routine, without spending a lot of money. Here are the top tips for looking after your skin while on a budget:

Stay hydrated

This may seem obvious, but drinking at least eight glasses of water daily can significantly improve the look and feel of skin. Dehydration can make skin appear dull and lifeless, because being properly hydrated helps flush out toxins (which can cause skin issues such as acne or redness). Add extra flavor with a few slices of cucumber or lemon.

Use Sunscreen

It’s important to use a broad-spectrum sunscreen (protects against both UVA and UVB rays) consistently. Even on cloudy days UV rays can penetrate and increase the risk of skin damage. You can save costs by using a foundation or moisturizer with SPF, saving you from buying two products.

Make your own face masks

This is a fun and affordable experience and means you can easily customise your mask based on your skincare needs. For example, make an avocado mask (rich in natural fats, and vitamins E, and C) to hydrate and nourish your skin by mashing ½ avocado with a squeeze of honey and apply to face for 15 minutes.

Shop around

Instead of choosing expensive products, consider looking for cheaper options that still offer good quality. Established brands like CeraVe or The Ordinary, offer incredible results at an affordable price. Also consider shopping at supermarkets and drugstores instead of specific skincare websites. You’ll often find a wider variety and potentially lower prices compared to products bought online or at higher-end stores.
