Straight, curly, pinned back and pinned up, hair this season is perfect for all your summer moods.
ON THE RUNWAY For Brock, the look was inspired by the 1950s and a road trip through Joshua Tree National Park. The result? A half updo, unfussy victory roll with height and volume. Just the sort of simple style with few flourishes at which the design duo excel.
GET THE LOOK Prep hair with a thickening spray and blow-dry smooth. Wave the hair in alternating directions. Divide front of the hair into five sections – three sections at the front and two on either side of each ear. Begin with top section and secure with elastic several inches from the root. Twist the hair, push it forward to create a slight pouf securing with bobby pins through the elastic. Repeat on each of the side sections ensuring each appears separate.
ON THE RUNWAY Artist Ugo Rondinone’s psychedelic mixed-media work underscored the look at Jason Wu – part neon sportswear, part feminine glamour. The hair took its cue from the collection – wet, slicked back with a deep side part.
GET THE LOOK Apply extra firm control gel to damp hair and blow dry. Pin back the sides of hair and use a flat iron to sections of hair. Add volume to the crown of the head by teasing it. Then comb to mold and maintain height. Lock the look in place with shine spray.
PRODUCT Bumble and bumble Bb. Curl (Style) Anti-Humidity Gel-Oil, $39.
ON THE RUNWAY At Marchesa the celestial giant, the sun, in all its facets from dawn til dusk served as inspiration for an unabashedly feminine collection. The collection also featured a Grecian goddess vibe which was translated into naturally textured hair by Moroccanoil.
GET THE LOOK To dry hair, apply a dime size amount of treatment oil from mid-length to ends. Section hair and use a curling iron to create cascading curls. Gently separate curls and add a jewelled brooch to each side of the head behind the ear in line with cheekbones. Mist with hairspray to ensure hold.
PRODUCT Nadri Pave Double Feather Pin, $100.
ON THE RUNWAY For Reem Acra, the secret garden theme called for hair with feminine curls pulled up high on the crown of the head and falling delicately on the face. This is a romantic tousled look, perfect for summer gatherings.
GET THE LOOK Spray hair with a setting product. Divide hair into sections and curl. Pin to set and cool. Brush hair out and tease 1-inch sections throughout. Secure hair into a French twist ensuring curls fall toward the forehead. Spray with hairspray.
