Hotel Wolfville
Location
From the Glooscap Trail it’s an easy westerly drive winding past the Minas Basin, through the agricultural heartland of King’s County with its valleys of golden vineyards and apple orchards, your first glimpse of the dynamism of the Bay of Fundy harnessed inland through dykelands.
Arrive at Hotel Wolfville on main street and you’ll believe you’ve stepped into the fictional town from the Gilmore Girls. You’ll easily relax into the hotel’s New England sophisticate vibe; a row of dormer windows snuggled atop the brick façade, light streaming in from floor-to-ceiling windows and balconies with views of the highest tides in the world – it’s hard not to be charmed.
Room
A discreet back entrance foyer, key-less entry, and 24/7 virtual concierge service set the sleek tone. The eight Vincent den Hartog-designed one-and two-bedroom suites pay homage to the region’s history, geography and poetry with names like Blomidon, Grand Pre, Acadia and of course, Evangeline (see Henry Wadsworth Longfellow famous lines about the Acadian Deportation).
While it feels like a boutique hotel – spacious interiors in a medley of soft pastels offset furnishings in vivid blue and yellow leading to the spa-like main bathroom where a rainfall shower falls on black hexagon tiles – there’s no restaurant, or daily onsite housekeeping.
You won’t miss the traditional hotel service though because Hotel Wolfville literally has every single thing you could think of to make a memorable stay. Want to whip up a morning smoothie? There’s a Ninja Blender. Forgot to pack makeup remover? There are stocks of extra supplies in drawers. Have a sweet craving while working at the writing desk? There’s a bowl of Hershey’s kisses waiting for you.
And, those generously curated details are the reason you’ll return here – keep score on family game night with the pad of paper and pencil beside the stacks of board games under the TV, reach for the large collection of books in every room and you’ll find many signed by the author, or get up close to the mother-in-law tongue, and spider plants and you’ll discover they’re alive and well-watered.
Hotel Wolfville doesn’t skimp, take the cook’s starter kit of Luckett vineyards olive oil, and a tea and coffee nook which looks like a barista setup (pump hazelnut syrup into your coffee, grind your own beans, grab a mug from the open shelves).
Even the utilitarian won’t go unnoticed – the washer and dryer come in handy for loads of mud splattered laundry (courtesy of the chocolate milk Bay of Fundy), lit-up, built-in closets make finding clothes a cinch, and there are proper hooks in the front closet for umbrellas.

Background
Anchored by Acadia University, Wolfville has long been a vibrant student town, what’s less well-known it that it’s quickly becoming an epicentre of food, wine, cider and outdoor adventure – Canada’s more well-rounded answer to Healdsburg.
The town itself is well worth seeing and Hotel Wolfville is the perfect launchpad for exploring its quaint shops, restaurants and mix of Gothic Revival, Victorian and Neo-Classical architecture.
The hotel is also a convenient hub for venturing further afield in the Annapolis Valley – clinking glasses at wine tastings, walking the impressive UNESCO World Heritage Site of Grand-Pré, perusing farmers’ markets, hopping on the stunning Harvest Moon Trailway, or picking up lobster from Halls Harbour.
