What’s the result of 40 years of perfecting the craft? Perfectly fitted bras that make all the difference in comfort and confidence.  So, to celebrate the past four decades of expertise, la Vie en Rose has launched the Feel the Expertise campaign. Here, Bianca Izzo VP of Design & Creative Strategy shares her advice on how to find the perfect bra for various body types, the bra styles you need to add to your wardrobe plus helpful bra storage tips:

Q: What are 3-4 easy steps for women to find the right bra size?

A: Finding the right bra size doesn’t have to be complicated. I always recommend these 3 simple steps:

1. Start with the band.
The band provides the biggest part of a bra’s support, so it should feel snug and comfortable, sitting straight across your back without riding up. But careful, it should not feel too tight either, you don’t want to have any unwanted marks and bumbs on your side or back.

2. Check the cup fit.
Your breasts should be fully contained in the cups with no spilling over the top, sides, or under the arm, and no gaping.

3. Look at the center gore.
The small piece between the cups should sit flat against your sternum. If it lifts away from your body, it’s often a sign the fit needs adjusting.

My biggest tip? Don’t get attached to the size on the label. Different bra constructions can fit differently, so focus on how the bra feels, not just the number and letter.

What style(s) of bra should be considered for different body types?

There isn’t one perfect bra for every body. The best bra is the one that complements your shape, lifestyle, and personal preferences.

For fuller cups, a Full Coverage Bra is recommended, offer[ing] excellent support, coverage, and comfort while helping distribute weight evenly.

For women looking for shape and lift, Push-Up Bras [are] designed to enhance cleavage and create a lifted silhouette while remaining comfortable and natural-looking.

For smaller to medium busts, Lightly Lined or Wireless Bras provide softness, comfort, and a natural shape without adding bulk.

For fuller figures or women seeking extra support, Side Support and Contour Bras Help center the breast tissue and create a balanced, flattering silhouette.

Bralettes and Wireless Styles are perfect for lounging, working from home, errands, or anyone who prefers a lighter feel.

At la Vie en Rose, we believe every woman deserves options. Some days call for support, some call for comfort, and others call for a little extra confidence.

How many styles of bra should a woman have in her wardrobe?

I like to compare bras to shoes. You wouldn’t wear the same pair for every occasion.

A well-rounded bra wardrobe typically includes:

  • An everyday T-shirt bra
  • A supportive bra for work and daily wear
  • A strapless bra
  • A sports bra
  • A comfort bra or bralette
  • A special occasion bra that makes you feel beautiful

You don’t need dozens of bras, but having different styles allows you to feel comfortable and confident regardless of what you’re wearing.

Which bra style is best for each of the following:

Strapless dresses: A well-fitting strapless bra.

The key is a supportive band and silicone grip that keeps the bra securely in place. The band should do the work, not the straps you no longer have. We have a few to offer at la Vie en Rose, my 2 favorites are the Lightly Lined Memory Foam Convertible Strapless Bra  and the  Push-up convertible strapless Demi Bra.

T-shirt: A t-shirt bra

Smooth cups create an invisible look under clothing while providing comfortable everyday support. Our Lightly lined Demi Bra  is perfect for that or even our  Unlined Cushioned Wire Bra

Workout: A sports bra designed for your activity level.

Whether it’s yoga, walking, running, or high-impact training, the right sports bra minimizes movement and provides targeted support. We have a great  Low Impact Racerback Sports Bra.

Everyday/Work/Errands: A lightly lined bra or supportive wireless bra.

This is the bra you’ll reach for most often. Comfort, support, and versatility are key. You should try our Lightly lined Wireless Bra.

How should you store your bras?:

Bras are carefully engineered garments, so proper storage helps maintain their fit and shape.

  • Store molded and contour bras with the cups nested naturally.
  • Avoid folding one cup into the other, which can permanently distort the shape.
  • Keep them in a drawer where they can lie flat.
  • Rotate your bras regularly to allow the elastic to recover between wears.

Taking care of your bras helps preserve both the fit and support you loved when you first bought them.

Any other expert tips?

One of the biggest misconceptions I hear is that if a bra is uncomfortable, that’s simply part of wearing a bra. It’s not. A well-designed bra should support you without pinching, digging, or restricting movement.

Another tip: our bodies change more often than we think. Hormones, weight fluctuations, pregnancy, age, and even lifestyle changes can affect fit. I encourage women to reassess their bra size every year or whenever they notice their bras feeling different.

And finally, don’t underestimate the power of a professional bra fitting. After more than 20 years in this industry, I still believe the right bra can be transformative. It improves posture, enhances comfort, helps clothing fit better, and most importantly, boosts confidence.

At la Vie en Rose, that’s what inspires us every day: creating bras that make women feel supported, comfortable, and beautiful exactly as they are.
