“Built in the 1930’s, the boutique hotel was originally the resting place of cowboy artist Lon Magargee. Everywhere I look in my deluxe casita, there are subtle cowboy accents like twentieth century artwork, magazine covers, and wood chests – all of which make for a sense of comfort that relaxes me. My enormous bathroom is a continuation of the cowboy throwback. A walk in shower, and silver 1930’s style faucets are the backdrop to a stunning pedestal tub, the perfume of sage-citrus, the signature scent at The Hermosa Inn, fills the air. On evenings, I notice a charming cowboy dream quote with lavender chocolates by the bedside table, a hint of one of the artists most celebrated works. Outside, the cozy fireplace and courtyard patio terrace with green space beguile my senses.
For dinner later in the evening, I dine at Lon’s, the signature restaurant at the property, head by Executive Jeremy Pacheco. The space feels cozy, with chic rustic accents like wooden chairs studded with metal nails and cowhide, horse saddles and wooden ceiling beams making me feel as if I’ve walked into a Ralph Lauren campaign and Western Movie all in one fell swoop. Lon’s also features a basement wine cave reminiscent of old world Europe available for private dining. I enjoy my dinner of truffle goat cheese macaroni, Himalayan salt seared Ahi tuna and roasted jidori chicken with sweet onion jus, glazed baby carrots and basil mashed potatoes.”
