Tips for how to wear neutrals in fashion.

Neutrals can be tricky making you look washed out and struggling to find the focal point of your outfit. City Style and Living, The Editor’s Notebook has even more ideas and visuals of how to get neutrals right.

To get neutrals right, keep these tips in mind:

1. Add neutrals in accessories.

We used a broad rimmed hat to play up the neutral tones in the outfit (in this case echoing the grey in the boots).

2. Use multiple shades of colour in the same tones.

Break up monochromatic outfits with subtle infusions of complimentary tones. For this outfit we complimented the white sweater dress with pops of grey.

3. Keep accessories to the subdued and classic.

For a outfit of complete neutrals jewellery and accessories in silver, gold, platinum, metallic, black, white and grey work best.
