Top Tips for making the most of local produce

1  PLAN, PRIORITIZE AND PREPARE
Planning ahead will help determine what produce you purchase. Search for seasonality charts in your region to get an idea of what items are at their peak, and design your menus accordingly.

2 PESTO, SOUP AND FROZEN YOGURT
Pesto Nearly any fresh herb or green vegetable can become a delicious pesto style sauce when combined with nuts, oil, garlic and grated cheese in a blender.
Soup Roast seasonal vegetables with salt and black pepper. Then blend with stock to make a delicious soup.
Frozen Yogurt Want a quick, healthy dessert? Freeze Greek yogurt with a touch of nut milk. Then blend with frozen fruit and honey.

3 USE IT ALL UP
Remember that nearly all parts of produce are usable. Vegetables like beets, carrots, kohlrabi and turnips have attached greens that are edible.
They make an excellent addition to your morning smoothie or stir fry.

SWEET SUCCULENTS Looking for a place setting that guests can take home? Pale green succulents in pots, are easy to transport and require little tending.
