DINING: Best Farm to Table Restaurant in Santa Rosa

John Ash & Co. the eponymous restaurant of the acclaimed chef, was one of the original farm-to-table concepts in Sonoma and carries this ethos through its menu today including sourcing ingredients from numerous local farms and food producers, as well as their own gardens and orchards. Tonight though, packed with patrons for dinner, service remains sharp, warm and relaxed. The sweet diver scallops are balance by tart diced Granny Smith apples and rounded out by rye whiskey reduction while perfectly seared slow cooked Ora King salmon is juicy and pink, served alongside toothsome fregola, estate chard, shiitake and served with a rich red wine sauce. At 493 square feet, the spacious Vineyard View Fireplace King rooms are ultra luxurious. After a day of wine tastings, relax in the plush down bedding of the most comfortable California King bed, nibbling on chocolate chip cookies at turndown. A separate seating area with fireplace and large barn doors lead a large bathroom complete with soaking tub, double vanity and large walk-in shower, while French doors lead to a private outdoor balcony overlooking the property’s beautifully kept vineyards – you could almost move in.
