HEARST CASTLE
If you’ve ever wondered how multi-millionaire publishing tycoon W. R. Hearst lived, take a tour of Hearst Castle, the lavish property/ museum in San Simeon, with breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean and central California coast. Take the grand rooms tour for the crème de la crème of ostentatious luxury.
SANTA BARBARA BOTANIC GARDEN
In the Mission Canyon The Santa Barbara Botanic Garden boasts a wide array of California native plants including its very own redwoods (planted in the early 20th century). Paths lead to among other delights, a Japanese garden, an old aqueduct and dam built by the Chumash Indians under the direction of the Spanish Franciscan padres and a mini-labyrinth for children of all ages.
