Slow travel, reconnecting with nature are the travel trends here to stay. Following a 2025 relaunch, Silverback Lodge invites guests to do exactly that while experiencing Uganda’s iconic and endangered wildlife (including the silverback gorillas) in comfort and peace.

Silverback Lodge Location
Located in the Buhoma sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in south-western Uganda and home to approximately half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. The lodge sits within one of the world’s most important conservation areas. Its location just moments from the Buhoma trailhead making it an ideal base for gorilla trekking, with sweeping views across the ancient rainforest canopy and mist-covered hills.
Guests can set off directly from the lodge to begin their trek with ease, accompanied by expert local guides and experienced trackers as small groups journey through dense rainforest in search of one of the park’s habituated gorilla families. Every trek is unique, and the intimate, unforgettable time spent observing these remarkable animals in their natural habitat makes it a true once-in-a-lifetime experience. Strictly regulated permits and visitor numbers ensure every encounter prioritises the gorillas’ welfare, helping safeguard the future of this endangered species.
