Set on the picturesque West Hills Golf Club and open year-round, the restaurant, event and meeting space, has a relaxed, homely ambience that has made it a go-to hub for locals since it opened in 2022.
Although you can pop in for a bite after playing a round, the super-friendly service, amazing food and unique craft cocktails attracts a steady dinner crowd on the evening we visit.
A seasonal cocktail menu brims with innovative choices like a ‘Plum and get it’ (rye whiskey, amaretto, black currant jam, vanilla, blueberry, fresh citrus, spiced bitters and ginger beer) and Ciao Bella (Aperol, limoncello, pomegranate, smoked apple bitters, prosecco and soda).
Alongside our cocktails, we order the perfectly grill-kissed bread, served with addictive honey butter, followed by blackened haddock with creamy mushroom risotto and squash.
“Being a small family business every little detail is so much more meaningful than it used to be in everything thing that I do, including bringing someone a glass of water – it’s like you’re in my home,” says general manager Jessica Hill.

LOCATION
Although it’s only minutes away by car, this side of Fredericton is less Garrison District, Wolastoq river views and taprooms than downtown. But the advantage is being right on the Kingswood Golf Course in a well laid out hotel only 15 minutes from the airport in the Saint John River Valley. In fact, there are bundles available for golfers. Next door there’s plenty to do for families at the Kingswood Entertainment Centre or take in the hiking and walking trails onsite.
LOWDOWN
With 121 spacious rooms and suites featuring a microwave and couch, the hotel operates at a pleasing hum. Downstairs, The Waterfront Restaurant’s menu curated by Chef Mark McVicar features a delightful breakfast including a sumptuous vegetable-packed sandwich, an innovative morning lasagna and the best cappuccino we’ve had in a long time. Between conference attendees, business types, sports teams and birthday parties there’s a steady stream of guests from the Maritimes and other parts of Canada, though it doesn’t feel crowded.
