The Latest Luxe English Countryside Hotel Offers A Sanctuary For Pause and Restoration
Reimagined by award-winning Bergman Design House, the highly anticipated transformation of an historic property into Fairmont Cheshire, The Mere has finally been revealed. Beyond elevating The Mere to a standalone luxury hotel, the transformation thoughtfully builds its existing legacy as a beloved, lived-in estate, deeply rooted in local loyalty and a storied past. The result? A contemporary countryside property that truly embodies its heritage of shared celebration and cherished moments.

The property expresses contemporary British luxury through sculptural forms, layered lighting, and richly textured materials. The £125 million transformation by Select Group seamlessly combines Fairmont’s signature hospitality with authentic Cheshire character offering: 116 beautifully appointed bedrooms (including 23 spacious suites), Gordon Ramsay at The Mere, afternoon tea and champagne at The Orangery, British fare and vibrant Indian cuisine at The Club Lounge, Fairmont Spa is set within a restored Victorian stable block and features a 20-meter swimming pool, Finnish sauna, ice baths, hammam, and twenty personalized treatments in six dedicated rooms. In addition, the elite 18-hole championship golf course, originally designed in the1930s by James Braid and George Duncan, offers an exceptional golfing experience framed by The Mere Lake and stunning Cheshire countryside.
