5 looks from classic to modern that’ll turn heads.

1/ Black Magic: The New #LBD

At Hannibal Laguna the #lbd got an ultra-glam update with ruffles, a sweetheart neckline and a daring slit. Fall for drama!

2/ Simply Sparkling: Crystal Freckles

Freckles usually appear in summer, but this fall they sparkled on the catwalk at Christian Siriano in the form of Swarovski crystals. Illuminating faces in a novel way, Maybelline New York makeup artist Erin Parsons applied the crystals to the exact same spots on every model’s face.

3/ Code Red: Red Lipstick

RUNWAY Lips captivate in shades of red this fall. At Alice + Olivia, Maybelline New York’s Global Makeup Artist, Erin Parsons was inspired by rich Bordeaux tones and the collection’s Fantasia theme. For Helmut Lang, makeup artist Susie Sobol created a standout red lip set against fresh and dewy skin for Maybelline New York. The look at Jonathan Simkhai, created by makeup artist Grace Lee for Maybelline New York, meanwhile, was imperfectly perfect – encompassing a blurred lip in an unapologetically feminine shade of vibrant ruby. The approach at Rebecca Minkoff, created by Lee differed only slightly by blurring the lip at the edges.

#IRL Choose a lipstick with a creamy or sheer texture as matte can dry out lips. Begin by scrubbing away dry flakes then use a lip pencil to trace the perimeter of lips, and finish with a swipe of lipstick on top using a fluffy brush to softly diffuse the pigment toward the centre of the mouth. For extra shine and statement coat lips with gloss.

Cream Lipstick: For extra moisture add gloss over top.
Lip Gloss: Add extra shine and statement.
Lip Pencil:  Helps define lips.
Lip Stain: Easiest to apply with a fluffy brush.

4/ Luxury Wearable Nails: Nude and Metallic

Rather than being a contradiction – luxury and wearable – as words and concepts made their mark in the world of nails this season. Jin Soon Choi encapsulated the nail look for Tibi’s Fall/Winter 2019 collection inspired by natural, wooly textures mixed with high-gloss shine, feminine colors, and hard metals, providing a feeling of heritage with an added modern twist. While the top half of the nail in a subdued tone is rustic and wearable for everyday, the bottom half transforms into a razzle-dazzle.  Set against flesh tone polish, glitter practically spells fairy tale. Just don’t forget your glass slippers!

5/ Eyes on the Prize: Cool Cat Eye

a/ Bold and Heavy
THE LOOK An inky, thick line described by Val Garland using NARS Cosmetics as, “Royal meets The Vatican – a futuristic velvety graphic eye, inspired by Felini and Hitchcock.”

GET THE LOOK Use a gel liner to line upper lashes with a straight outer wing. To add drama and extend the line, layer with black shadow.

b/ Underline
THE LOOK This clever take on the classic makes eyes appear more open by only lining a portion of the bottom lash line.

GET THE LOOK To achieve the loose, unstructured stroke, use a thick brush to apply black eyeshadow along the lower lash line aiming to make the line evenly curved.

c/ Classic

THE LOOK A clean line of black that begins mid-lashline and continues with a slight flick at the edge, gives eyes an elongated, almond appearance.

GET THE LOOK Trace from centre of lash line ending a wing shape with gel liner which does not set immediately. Then retrace and layer with liquid eyeliner.
